How can Counseling Help me?
The other day someone approached me and asked, “How can counseling actually help me?”
I went over a few ways counseling may help people. While counseling may help you in a number of ways such as personally, professionally, or relationally, I will focus today on a personal perspective and how counseling may help you answer the following questions:
Why am I so depressed?
How can I manage my anxiety?
Can I improve my self-confidence?
Who am I?
What can I do to feel more in control of myself?
Why do I have trouble making decisions?
Is there a way to actually be content?
How can I improve my personal life?
What can I do set healthy boundaries in my life?
There are a number of ways to sort out and answer these questions. Talking, reading, and writing about them are common ways to progress toward a solution. Additionally, pay attention to what draws you such as certain kinds of music, art, and poetry. What we are drawn toward may speak volumes about who we are or who we believe ourselves to be.
Please let me know if you want to have a discussion on the right question to ask and how to answer some of the above questions. I would be happy to help you sort out some answers to your questions about your personal life and how you may be able to improve yourself.
